About Ilmora

Ilmora (from ʿilm, knowledge) makes structured Islamic learning welcoming and reachable for every family, every adult and every ability.

How lessons are checked

Qualified teachers write or check every lesson. An authorised Islamic content reviewer must approve it before any learner sees it. Automated tools in Ilmora only help with practice, such as checking handwriting strokes. They never decide what is correct in the Qur’an or Islamic teaching.

What we believe

  • Islamic learning should be structured, welcoming and accessible.
  • Children’s apps should be simple, playful, safe and encouraging.
  • Accessibility is part of every screen, not an extra.
  • Learning should work on low-cost phones and slow or expensive internet.
  • All our characters, music and artwork are original.

Privacy and safety

  • We collect only what learning needs. Children’s profiles and progress are never public.
  • A parent or guardian gives consent for each child and each linked device.
  • Teachers never message children privately. Every message about a child goes to the parent.
  • Adults own their data and choose whether to share their progress.

Languages

The apps are available in English, Kiswahili and Arabic.

Our team

Ilmora is a youth-led Kenyan EdTech, founded by three Computer Science students at Umma University. Qualified ustadhs teach the live classes, and an Islamic scholar reviews every lesson before it goes live.
